Centrica lets contracts for Grove, Seven Seas fields

Centrica Resources has let a $70 million EPIC contract to Subsea 7 for the Grove extension and Seven Seas development projects in the southern North Sea.

LONDON, July 24 -- Centrica Resources Ltd. has awarded a $70 million engineering, procurement, installation, and commissioning contract to Subsea 7 Inc. for the Grove Extension and Seven Seas development projects in the southern North Sea.

The EPIC contract is a tieback of new gas production wells to the existing Grove and West Sole Alpha platforms via 6-in. and 8-in. carbon steel production pipelines and integrated service and control umbilicals.

The company will perform offshore operations in the second and third quarters of 2009 using a variety of its vessels, including the recently acquired Seven Navica.

Subsea 7 will carry out project management, engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation, and precommissioning of two 6-in. pipelines and one 8-in. pipeline, which are a total of 13 km in length.

Its contract also covers three service umbilicals, three piled structures, and all associated subsea installation and construction work, including trenching and protection of the pipeline and umbilical systems.
