LONDON, June 19 -- StatoilHydro has let a 500 million kroner contract to Technip Norge AS to fabricate and install structures and tie-in the pipeline systems for the Gjoa project in the Norwegian Sea.
The field is being developed with a semisubmersible platform and will start production in 2010. This contract builds upon an earlier contract Technip won for the fabrication and installation of the in-field pipelines, and it will also carry out unmanned subsea operations.
Technip will use the Scandi Arctic vessel to install the structures and the pipeline tie-in and preparation will be carried out by the Normand Progress and Fugro Saltire.
The contract includes fabrication and installation of expansion loops and guards as well as tie-in of risers, in-field pipelines, and export pipelines towards tie-in structures and templates.
Statoil expects installation of subsea templates and dumping of rocks on Gjoa to start in July with more than 20 vessels scheduled to install other equipment in 2009.
StatoilHydro is operator for Gjoa in the development phase, whereas Gaz de France takes over as operator when the field comes on stream. Licensees in the licence: Gaz de France 30%, Petoro 30%, StatoilHydro 20%, Shell 12, and RWE Dea 8%.
