MELBOURNE, June 19 -- Sakhneftegaz Engineering (SNE), a joint venture of Australian company WorleyParsons and Zarubezhneft of Russia, has won a contract from Exxon Neftegas for the engineering, procurement, and technical support services for the Arkutun-Dagi offshore platform off Sakhalin Island, Russia.
Exxon approved $28 million (Aus.) for initial engineering studies to be carried out this year under the contract, which could be worth $150 million over 5 years.
SNE will provide overall management services while coordination of subcontracts will be awarded to multiple third parties.
WorleyParsons which has a 49% interest in the SNE JV, says the project will be executed from Moscow and Houston, but there will be additional support coming from its offices in Perth, Melbourne, London, Beijing, and California.
Arkutun-Dagi in sub-Arctic waters is one of the largest float-over platforms in the world. It is one of three developments that make up the Sakhalin-1 project, which has estimated total reserves of 2.3 billion bbl of oil and 17.1 tcf of gas.
