LONDON, June 24--Cirrus Energy Nederland BV plans to become operator of the undeveloped K10-Bravo oil field in the Dutch North Sea and is contemplating development from facilities in place.
The company acquired 66.9% interest from Wintershall Noordzee BV and 33.1% from Petro-Canada Netherlands BV in the K10a license in exchange for an override payable out of any future production. The acquisitions are subject to government approval.
The company initially plans at least one step-out well in the first half of 2009. The Noble Lynda Bossler jack up will handle drilling.
The field is under the existing K10-B production platform in 28 m of water. The platform was installed in 1980 to process gas from a Permian Rotliegend reservoir. Once gas production stopped in 2003, some gas processing facilities were removed from the platform. The platform structure and a few suspended wells were left behind.
Oil was discovered in Triassic Bunter sandstones and Cretaceous Vlieland sandstones, which had average porosities of 21% and 17% respectively.
"The K10-B2 well encountered the top of a 75-m gross Bunter oil column at a true vertical depth of 1405 m and was production-tested in 1984 at rates up to 890 b/d of oil over a 4-month period," Cirrus said.
The K10-B7 well encountered the top of a 70-m Vlieland gross oil column at a TVD of 1,410 m and was tested at rates up to 336 b/d of oil. Oil in both cases was 23º gravity.
