HOUSTON, May 15 -- Chevron Australia Pty. Ltd. of Perth has awarded a 5-year contract to supply subsea equipment and support for the Gorgon project to VetcoGray, a GE Oil & Gas business.
Gorgon includes subsea development of Greater Gorgon natural gas fields, about 130 km off northwest Western Australia and 65-134 km from Barrow Island in 200-1,300 m of water. Linking the fields will be a three-train, 15 million tones/year LNG plant on Barrow. Also included is provision for domestic gas production on Barrow Island.
Chevron Australia owns (50%) and operates the Gorgon Project in joint venture with Australian subsidiaries of ExxonMobil Corp. and Royal Dutch Shell PLC.
The scope of VetcoGray's contract includes supply of manifolds, pipeline termination structures, pipeline end terminations, trees with subsea control modules, wellheads, production control systems, system integration testing, installation and operations support.
The VetcoGray project team will be based in Perth, while engineering of the subsea systems will be carried out at VetcoGray centers in Aberdeen and Nailsea (UK); Houston; Billingstad, Norway; and Singapore. The schedule for the supply and delivery of equipment is to be developed, said a VetcoGray announcement.
