Eni starts gas production from Badhra field

A joint venture led by Eni has begun gas production from Badhra field, southeast of Bhit gas field in Pakistan, and has commissioned the third train at Bhit gas treatment plant.

LONDON, Apr. 16 -- A joint venture led by Eni SPA has begun gas production from Badhra field, southeast of Bhit gas field in Pakistan, and has commissioned the third train at Bhit gas treatment plant, which will process gas from nearby Badhra field, following the Badhra development and Bhit acceleration projects.

The development means that local utility companies can buy more gas to meet the needs of their customers. The $50 million Badhra development and Bhit acceleration project has boosted the existing capacity of the Bhit plant capacity by 17% to 315 MMscfd from 270 MMscfd. Badhra field is 250 km northeast of Karachi in Pakistan's Sindh province.

The Kirthar joint venture, the title holder of Bhit and Badhra gas fields, comprises Eni Pakistan Ltd. 40%, Royal Dutch Shell PLC unit Kirthar Pakistan BV 28%, Oil & Gas Development Co. Ltd. 20%, Premier Oil Overseas BV unit PKP Kirthar 2 BV 6%, and Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Co. unit PKP Kirthar BV 6%.

Eni has been present in Pakistan since 2000 with 3 operated offshore exploration blocks and 12 onshore exploration licenses, 5 of which are operated by Eni. The production fields operated by Eni are Bhit and Badhra (Eni 40%) and Kadanwari (Eni 18.42%). Eni also holds interests in producing fields of Sawan (Eni 23.68%), Zamzama (Eni 17.75%), Miano (Eni 15.16%), and Rehmat (Eni 30%).
