HOUSTON, Apr. 1 -- AP Moller-Maersk AS of Copenhagen let a contract to a subsidiary of J. Ray McDermott SA for the engineering, procurement, and construction of 6,500-tonne topside modules for the Peregrino floating, production, storage, and offloading vessel.

"Projects of this nature are typically valued in excess of $250 million," AP Moller-Maersk said.

Engineering and procurement activities have commenced, and fabrication is expected to begin in the third quarter. Construction of the topside modules will start in the third quarter at J. Ray's Batam Island facility in Indonesia. The Peregrino FPSO project is expected to be completed by fourth quarter 2009.

The FPSO ultimately will be operated in the Peregrino field in the Campos basin 85 km off Brazil. Under the development plan, the field is to be designed with the FPSO and two drilling platforms.
