Saras lets revamp contract for Sardinia refinery

Saras has awarded an EPCM contract to Foster Wheeler Italiana to renovate the mild hydrocracking unit at its Sarroch refinery in Sardinia, Italy.

HOUSTON, Mar. 25 -- Saras SPA has awarded an engineering, procurement, and construction management contract to Foster Wheeler Italiana SPA to renovate the mild hydrocracking unit at its Sarroch refinery in Sardinia, Italy.

The project is part of Saras' major refinery upgrade. Saras will upgrade the mild hydrocracker's capacity, performance, and conversion and give it a longer catalyst life duration.

Foster Wheeler, which also performed the front-end engineering, design, and procurement of major items for the mild hydrocracking unit revamp, will engineer and supervise a major modification to the reaction section, including installation of a new pretreat reactor, and will upgrade the gas compression circuit and install a new high-pressure amine wash section.
