Houston, Mar. 26 -- Far East Energy Corp., Houston, has appointed Phil A. Christian chief operating officer and China country manager. In this position, Christian will oversee coalbed methane exploration and development in China.
Prior to joining Far East, Christian served in various operations management roles at BP PLC and its predecessor, Amoco Production Co. during 1983-2008. He most recently served as wells manager for BP's Russian offshore operations and as director, major projects, in BP's Russian joint venture TNK-BP.
Christian's international management background includes almost 10 years of Chinese project management, including service as operations manager for Amoco Orient Petroleum Co. during 1991-94. He also served as a drilling and operations manager for Amoco in Latin America.
