Engro seeks JV for Algeria fertilizer plant

Pakistan urea producer Engro Chemical Pakistan is interested in entering a JV with Algerian state iron ore and mining firm Perphos to build a phosphatic fertilizer complex in Algeria.

KARACHI, Mar. 11 -- Pakistan's second-largest urea manufacturer, Engro Chemical Pakistan Ltd., reported it is interested in entering a joint venture with Algerian state-owned iron ore and mining company Perphos to establish a phosphatic fertilizer complex in Algeria after conducting a detailed feasibility study.

The complex would consist of a 3,000 tonne/day diammonium phosphate unit, three 4,500 tonne/day sulfuric acid units, three 1,500 tonne/day phosphoric acid units, and associated facilities.

Construction of the complex is expected to take 4 years.
