HOUSTON, Feb. 12 -- Total SA will build a 50,000-b/d coker and desulfurization, vacuum distillation, and related units at its 231,000 b/d refinery in Port Arthur, Tex.

The $2.2 billion increase in the refinery's deep-conversion capacity will boost output of ultralow-sulfur automotive diesel by 3 million tonnes/year.

Commissioning is scheduled in 2011.
