LONDON, Feb. 26 -- StatoilHydro ASA has tested a well on the north flank of Brage field in Norway's North Sea that flowed more than 17,000 b/d of oil.

Production and reserves for Brage will increase following completion of the A-28B well which targeted the Bownmore structure. The well currently is being choked back to 7,500 b/d.

"Brage field production is currently exceeding 25,000-27,000 b/d of oil, up from 17,000 b/d prior to putting the A-28B well on stream," said Norwegian Energy Co. ASA, a partner in the well.

The A-28B well was drilled as a long reach well with a total length of more than 7,400 m, and the drilling and completion operations has taken more than 5 months to complete. The well forms part of an extensive infill and exploration drilling program at Brage to maximize recovery.

Partners in Brage are StatoilHydro, Noreco, Talisman Energy Norge AS, Petoro AS, Altinex Oil Norway AS, Endeavour Energy Norge AS, and Revus Energy ASA.
