More bids received in Thailand's 20th bid round

Thailand's Department of Mineral Fuels has received bid applications for 34 exploration blocks—26 onshore and 8 offshore—in its 20th bidding round in which a total of 65 tracts were offered.

BANGKOK, Jan. 22 -- Thailand's Department of Mineral Fuels (DMF) has received bid applications for 34 exploration blocks—26 onshore and 8 offshore—in its 20th bidding round in which a total of 65 tracts were offered. The Thai cabinet has already approved the awarding of 27 exploration blocks.

In the latest (sixth) monthly submission, JSX Energy Ltd. and Kra Energy Ltd. separately bid on six onshore blocks.

According to DMF, JSX applied for Block L3/50, a 3,912 sq km tract in the Mae Sot basin in northern Thailand, near its existing exploration sites.

Kra Energy bid on five blocks—L10/50 (3,920 sq km), L11/50 (3,912 sq km), L17/50 (3,934 sq km), L24/50 (3,947 sq km), and L25/50 (3,914 sq km) —in the Khorat Plateau and Nakhon Thai High.
