StatoilHydro lets HPHT system contract for Morvin field

StatoilHydro has let a 1 billion kroner contract to Aker Kvaerner to design and construct a HPHT subsea production system by May 2009 for Morvin oil and gas field in the Norwegian Sea.

LONDON, Nov. 30 -- StatoilHydro SA has awarded a 1 billion kroner contract to Aker Kvaerner to design and construct a high-pressure, high-temperature subsea production system by May 2009 for Morvin oil and gas field on the Halten terrace in the Norwegian Sea.

The subsea production system will have two 4-slot manifolds, three horizontal subsea trees, a control system, steel tube umbilicals, a tie-in system, and intervention tools. "The technology is designed to handle pressures up to 15,000 psi and temperatures as high as 170°. The solution will be based on the technology used at nearby Kristin field, another HPHT project delivered by Aker Kvaerner," the company said.

Morvin field will be developed as a subsea tieback to Asgard B, with two subsea production system templates and a total of three production wells. Production will begin in 2010.

"The contract award is conditional on the governmental approval of the plan for development and operation scheduled for submittal in February 2008," StatoilHydro said.

The deal compliments the framework agreement signed by Aker Kvaerner and StatoilHydro in September this year.

Partners in the Morvin license group are StatoilHydro 64%, Eni SPA 30%, and Total SA 6%.
