MELBOURNE, Oct. 31 -- The first oil shipment from AED Oil Ltd.'s Puffin Northeast field in the Timor Sea was lifted from the 'Front Puffin' floating production, storage, and offloading vessel into the Mayon Spirit trading tanker.

Melbourne-based AED said the transfer of 328,000 bbl of 43.6° oil was achieved on schedule and took 15 hr. The next offtake is scheduled for mid-November.

Puffin Northeast is producing at 28,000 b/d from two subsea wells—Puffin-7 and Puffin-8. Puffin crude sells at a premium to the APPI Tapis crude benchmark.

Meanwhile, AED is using the Wilcraft Premium jack up to drill the Puffin-10 well in the separate Puffin Southwest reservoir.

This well is designed to penetrate the main Upper Cretaceous sands and then complete a 200-m horizontal section in this reservoir interval.

AED plans to bring Puffin Southwest on stream via the Modec Venture FPSO during the first half of 2008.
