Shell Malaysia awards Cili Padi field development

Shell Oil & Gas Malaysia has awarded Technip, Paris, a contract to develop Cili Padi gas field 153 km off Bintulu in Malaysia.

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 23 -- Shell Oil & Gas Malaysia has awarded Technip, Paris, a contract to develop Cili Padi gas field 153 km off Bintulu in Malaysia. The contract is scheduled for completion in second quarter 2008.

Technip's operations and engineering center in Kuala Lumpur will provide conceptual and detailed design engineering for:

-- Topsides and substructure for a new unmanned satellite drilling riser platform to be positioned in 91 m of water.

-- Topsides, substructure, and bridge for another new riser platform, which will be bridge-linked to the existing F23 gas production platform.

-- Modification of topsides on the F23 platform to tie-in the two new platforms.

-- A 30-km pipeline, including a subsea T-piece, for the tie-in of Selasih field.

-- An electric power generation and distribution system.

Shell is operator of Cili Padi field, with Petronas Carigali Sdn. Bhd. and Nippon Oil as partners.
