HOUSTON, Aug. 28 -- Gran Tierra Energy Inc., Calgary, plans to start continuous production at its Juanambu discovery in Colombia's Putumayo basin as soon as it receives regulatory approval, expected in the quarter ending Sept. 30.
Partner Solana Resouces Ltd., Calgary, with 35% net working interest in the 82 sq mile Guayuyaco Block 180 miles southwest of Bogota, noted that Gran Tierra drillstem tested six intervals at the Juanambu discovery: Lower and Middle Caballos, Villeta T and U sand, Villeta A limestone, and Rumiyaco KG sand.
Villeta U and A were noncommercial, but the other four zones flowed a combined 876 b/d from a combined 88 ft of perforations. TD is 9,154 ft.
Caballos flowed 448 b/d, natural, from 34 ft of perforations, and Villeta T sand flowed 214 b/d from 39 ft. Both flow rates were increasing at the end of the tests. The Kg sand pumped 214 b/d from 15 ft.
The well, completed with a jet pump and tubing configured to allow production from selected zones, has been tested intermittently since Apr. 26, and has produced 5,152 bbl through June 30.
Meanwhile, Guayuyaco field on the block is producing 670 b/d of oil. All commitments have been fulfilled, and the block is being further developed under an association contract.
