HOUSTON, Aug. 15 -- Carrizo Oil & Gas Inc., Houston, plans to frac its first horizontal Floyd shale well in Mississippi in September.

The company has more than 137,000 net acres under lease in the play in the state.

A fishing job stalled drilling in a first lateral, so the company drilled a second leg and set 3½-in. liner at 10,756 ft. The 1 Blackstone 35-2, in 35-16s-6e, Clay County, is 15 miles northeast of Starkville.

The company holds more than 240,000 net acres in other shale plays and continues to acquire leases (OGJ Online, July 24, 2006).
