HOUSTON, Aug. 9 -- Saudi Aramco has let a front-end engineering, design, and program management services contract to two subsidiaries of Foster Wheeler Ltd. for the planned Karan onshore gas processing facility at Khursaniyah, Saudi Arabia.
Facilities will include gas processing trains, acid gas removal, dehydration, sulfur recovery, substations, and all associated utilities and infrastructure.
The plant will process 1 bscfd of gas from offshore Karan gas field, which is being developed on a fast-track basis to enable production startup in 2011. Karan field is expected to support domestic gas sales of 770 MMcfd, reported Saudi Arabia's Oil Minister Ali bin Ibrahim Al-Naimi at a conference earlier this year (OGJ, May 21, 2007, p. 9).
The processed gas is expected to meet growing domestic gas demand, and a small amount will be used to fuel the plant.
The facility also will produce 640 tonnes/day of sulfur.
