LONDON, Aug. 30 -- Antrim Energy Inc. has brought forward its plans to drill a fourth well this year on the Central Causeway fault block in the UK North Sea that will target Brent sandstones. The well will help to more-quickly develop the Causeway oil field.
The well will be drilled on the northern portion of the block and will reach the sandstones at 14,150 ft. Antrim wants to explore between the recently completed 211/22a-6 well, which tested at 6,300 b/d of oil, and Antrim's 2006 discovery well 211/23d-17z, which tested at 14,500 b/d.
The fourth originally well was scheduled for 2008 as part of a larger development program that included drilling several water injection wells for pressure maintenance.
Antrim has started drilling appraisal well 211/22a-8 for the West Causeway fault compartment where oil was discovered in 1984 with well 211/22a-3, testing up to 5,500 b/d of oil from Ness sandstones.
Drilling is ahead of schedule and under budget to complete the project, Antrim said.
