LONDON, July 17 -- RWE Dea AG will drill at least two wells and will shoot a 3D seismic survey over a 3-year span on the acreage it has picked up in Egypt on the Tanta onshore concession. The work program is expected to cost at least $18.9 million.
RWE Dea has a 100% working interest in the block that lies partly in the Nile Delta and extends to the outskirts of the Western Desert. The 3,300-sq-km block was awarded under the Egyptian Gas Holding Company 2006 international bid round and is believed to be both oil and gas prone.
Tanta block is next to RWE Dea's Disouq concession (to the north) and will represent a continuation of the company's "strategy to pursue Nile Delta plays at onshore cost," the company said.
