HOUSTON, July 20 -- Petrominerales Ltd., Bogota, gauged 31° gravity oil at rates of 970-1,200 b/d from Tertiary Guadalupe, the lowermost of three intervals it plans to test at the Corcel-1 exploratory well in the Llanos basin of Colombia.
Well logs indicate potential net pay of 140 ft of high quality sand in the Mirador and Guadalupe formations, the company said. Guadalupe was initially interpreted as the Barco formation (OGJ Online, July 10, 2007).
The 40 ft of net pay in Guadalupe was tested on a jet pump of limited capacity, and the company calculated that Guadelupe could produce at initial rates of as much as 2,500 b/d with properly sized equipment. The company plans to test the two Mirador intervals.
The second well on the 7,918-acre Corcel Block 100 km east of Bogota is to spud in August.
