E.On Ruhrgas to participate in Le Havre LNG terminal

E.On Ruhrgas will take a 24.5% stake in Paris-based project company Gaz de Normandie SAS, which plans to construct a 6.6 million tonne/year regasification terminal in Le Havre by 2011.

LONDON, June 7 -- E.On Ruhrgas will take a 24.5% stake in Paris-based project company Gaz de Normandie SAS, which plans to construct a 6.6 million tonne/year regasification terminal in Le Havre by 2011.

E.On Ruhragas has signed the agreement with French power and gas supplier Poweo SA and the terminal operator Compagnie Industrielle Maritim SNC. E.On Ruhrgas's share of capacity will be 2.2 million tpy (OGJ Online, Nov. 13, 2006).

The partners expect to invest €500-600 million in the terminal and are carrying out further studies and planning.

E.On Ruhrgas also is looking into the construction of a 7.3 million tpy regasification terminal in Wilhelmshaven, Germany, by 2010, and another 7.3 million tpy terminal on the Adriatic coast in Croatia by 2011.

The company has also recently booked capacity of 1.2 million tpy in the Isle of Grain terminal in the UK from October 2010 until 2029.
