HOUSTON, June 28 -- Cia. Espanola de Petroleos SA (CEPSA) has awarded Technip an engineering, procurement, and construction contract for a hydrogen plant at its 100,000 b/cd refinery in Huelva, Spain.

Technip's operations and engineering center in Zoetermeer, the Netherlands, will execute the €60 million lump-sum contract, with support from its center in Barcelona.

The hydrogen plant will have a capacity of 68,700 cu m/hr of hydrogen. It will use Technip's segregated, dual-steam system to produce very high-quality steam.

The project is expected to be completed in fourth quarter 2009. It is part of CEPSA's major expansion plan to meet the growing demand for middle distillates in Spain.
