Schlumberger, Calik Enerji units secure drilling rigs

Parker Drilling Co. has signed separate drilling contracts with subsidiaries of Schlumberger and Calik Enerji AS for three international land rigs to work in Mexico and Turkmenistan.

HOUSTON, May 10 -- Parker Drilling Co. has signed separate drilling contracts with subsidiaries of Schlumberger and Calik Enerji AS for three international land rigs to work in Mexico and Turkmenistan.

The Schlumberger contract, which has a primary term of 3 years, covers two 2,000-hp newbuild land rigs—Rigs 266 and 267—that will be used for drilling in southern Mexico. Work is scheduled to begin in the third quarter.

The 2-year Calik contract contains an option to extend for an additional year. It covers Rig 230, which is expected to mobilize and begin drilling in eastern Turkmenistan in the second quarter.
