LONDON, May 30 -- Europa Oil & Gas (Holdings) PLC has spudded two wells in Romania: the Costisa-2 well and the Arbore-1 well.

Costisa-2 will appraise untested gas shows in Burdigalian-age sandstones at 1,000 m in the eastern part of the EPI-3 Brates concession. Europa said the well is a redrill of the nearby Costisa-1 well. Drilling Costisa-2 is expected to take a month.

The well will be drilled in the southern part of the EIII-1 Brodina concession 8 km from Comanesti gas field.

Europa also is planning to shoot a seismic survey later this year over its Brates Block West in Romania, in which it has a 20% stake. The company also plans to drill a well, Boistea-1, on Cuejdiu block in Romania and another on Bacau block later this year.
