LOS ANGELES, Apr. 9 -- South Korea's Daewoo plans to begin exploring for more natural gas off Myanmar, according to Myanmar's state-run media.

The Mirror newspaper said Daewoo E Myanmar and state-owned Myanma Oil & Gas Enterprise will shoot a seismic survey Apr. 17-May 30 on Blocks A-1 and A-3 in the Bay of Bengal near the Bangladesh border.

Daewoo already has discovered an estimated 10 tcf of gas on Block A-1. Volumes on Block A-3 are being confirmed by independent appraisers.

On Apr. 3 Thailand's PTT Exploration & Production PCL said an additional exploration well drilled on Block M9 in Myanmar's Gulf of Martaban has tested gas (OGJ Online, Apr. 3, 2007).
