LONDON, Apr. 23 -- Afren PLC and partner Amni International Petroleum Development Co., both of London, have signed a 5-year contract to lease the Armada Perkasa floating production, storage, and offloading vessel to enable start of production in early 2008 from their Okoro Setu oil project off Nigeria (OGJ Online, Dec. 15, 2006).
"The unit will process the total well fluids, producing stabilized crude for storage in the FPSO, with subsequent regular off-take by tanker," Afren said. It plans to produce 15,000-20,000 b/d of oil and will use associated gas to produce power on the FPSO and enhance well productivity.
Malaysia-based Bumi Armada Bhd. owns and operates the Armada Perkasa, which has a storage capacity of 360,000 bbl and a processing capacity of 27,000 b/d. The FPSO will be moored 1 km south of the field.
Afren, which became involved in the project a year ago, received governmental approval for the development plan in early April. In the third quarter, it will drill up to six deviated or horizontal gravel-packed oil production wells from a single field location supported by a well head platform.
