St. Mary makes executive appointments

St. Mary Land & Exploration Co. Pres. Anthony Best officially has taken on his new role as chief executive and president, succeeding Mark Hellerstein, who has retired as chief executive, but remains as chairman (OGJ Online, Dec. 5, 2006).

HOUSTON, Mar. 1 -- St. Mary Land & Exploration Co. Pres. Anthony Best officially has taken on his new role as chief executive and president, succeeding Mark Hellerstein, who has retired as chief executive, but remains as chairman (OGJ Online, Dec. 5, 2006).

Best also has been appointed to the board and will stand for reelection as a director at the company's annual stockholder meeting in May. At that time, former chairman Thomas Congdon will retire after 40 years with the company. Congdon joined St. Mary as president in 1966 and served in this position for nearly 25 years before being named chief executive in 1992 and chairman.

Separately, David Honeyfield, vice-president, chief financial officer, treasurer, and secretary, has been promoted to senior vice-president, chief financial officer, treasurer, and secretary.

Also, Business Development Director Jerry Hertzler has been named vice-president, business development.
