LONDON, Mar. 7 -- Brazil's Petroleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras) has let a $200 million contract to Technip to hire its Sunrise 2000 pipelaying vessel under a 4-year charter for work off Brazil.
The Sunrise 2000, which has built-in carousels and a capacity of 3,775 tons of products, is equipped with Technip's patented vertical lay system. It can install flexible flowlines and umbilicals in 2,000 m of water and can lay three flowlines or umbilicals simultaneously.
Since 1995 Petrobras has used the vessel to install subsea pipes for the development of Roncador, Albacora Leste, Marlim, and Marlim Sul fields, among other projects.
