HOUSTON, Feb. 9 -- Petroleos Mexicanos has let a $45.8 million contract to a subsidiary of Key Energy Services Inc., Houston, for field production solutions and well workover services for its North Region assets in Mexico.

Under the 22-month contract, Key initially will supply three well service rigs outfitted with its KeyView system and will install two of the systems on Pemex-owned well service rigs. Pemex also will have the option to request additional rigs and KeyView systems in the future, at an additional cost.

The contract work, which could begin during the second quarter, will initially focus on oil wells in Poza Rica, Altamira, and Cerro Azul fields.

Pending the success in these fields, Key said there is a potential for expansion opportunities into Veracruz and Reynosa fields in the north, as well as Pemex's entire South Region out of Villa Hermosa, Tabasco.
