HOUSTON, Feb. 23 -- Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) has let an engineering, procurement, and construction contract to a consortium led by SNF SAS, a French polyacrylamide producer, for a polymer flood in Marmul oil field in southern Oman.
The consortium includes Bahwan Engineering Co. (Oman) for construction, Mott MacDonald (UK) for detail design, and Petreco-Cameron (USA) for water treatment.
The 5-year contract involves building centralized water treatment and polymer preparation and injection facilities and includes supply of polyacrylamide and other chemicals.
The centralized water treatment facilities will include a primary produced water treatment plant with capacity of 80,000 cu m/day and a secondary produced water treatment plant with capacity of 30,000 cu m/day. The polymer preparation and injection facilities station will have capacity of 17,500 cu m/day.
The project is expected to recover about 10% of otherwise trapped oil in the Carboniferous Al-Qalata reservoir (OGJ, Nov. 20, 2006, p. 54).
