OMV picks up four licenses in Norwegian, UK licensing rounds

OMV AG will operate two licenses in the UK and two licenses in Norway after winning new acreage in those nations' respective licensing rounds.

LONDON, Feb. 2 -- OMV AG will operate two licenses in the UK and two licenses in Norway after winning new acreage in those nations' respective licensing rounds.

The two UK blocks lie west of the Shetland Islands and cover 1,800 sq km. OMV, with a 50% stake, will team up with Dana Petroleum 35% and Rocksource 15%. The consortium will concentrate on seismic activities in the first quarter.

The Norwegian blocks are in the Norwegian and Barents seas. The Barents Sea license, which comprises two blocks, will be operated by OMV 50% with RWE Dea AG 30% and Petoro 20%; the Norwegian Sea block will see OMV 70% work with Edison 30%.
