Ivanhoe names Gasca president, chief executive

Ivanhoe Energy Inc. Pres. and Chief Operating Officer Joseph Gasca has been promoted to president and chief executive officer.

HOUSTON, Feb. 1 -- Ivanhoe Energy Inc. Pres. and Chief Operating Officer Joseph Gasca has been promoted to president and chief executive officer.

Gasca joined the company in July 2006 from BG Group, where he served as general manager of operations with responsibilities for all BG's businesses worldwide.

Gasca's 27 years of oil and gas experience include a 22-year career with Texaco Inc., with which he served most recently as vice-president of commercial development. In this position he directed technology development and provided global technical support to Texaco's upstream organization. He also has served as Texaco's advisor to the president and as a senior executive in Scotland managing Texaco's North Sea assets. Before that he held a number of leadership and engineering positions in Texas and Louisiana.
