LOS ANGELES, Feb. 19 -- BG Group has signed a sale and purchase agreement to buy 2.25 million tonnes/year of LNG from Nigeria LNG.

BG will acquire the LNG for 20 years from NLNG's planned Train 7 in Finima, on Bonny Island in Rivers State. Cargoes will be delivered to BG's terminal at Lake Charles, La.

The NLNG agreement will add to BG's existing supply arrangements through Trains 4 and 5, which came into effect last year, the company said.

LNG Train 7 is planned as an 8.4 million tonne/year facility, but no dates have yet been announced for its construction start or completion.

Partners in Nigeria LNG, a joint venture company, are Nigerian National Petroleum Corp. 49%, Shell Gas BV 25.6%, Total LNG Nigeria Ltd. 15%, and ENI International (NA) SARL 10.4%.
