HOUSTON, Jan. 12 -- A long-term test is to begin in the first quarter at a Pennsylvanian Bend shale well in the Palo Duro basin.

The US affiliate of PetroGlobe Inc., Calgary, reported to the Texas Railroad Commission a preliminary absolute open flow potential of 3.316 MMcfd of gas with 150 bbl/MMcf of condensate from the McIntosh 1-77 well in southeastern Floyd County.

A plug partially blocked the wellbore during the test, and PetroGlobe plans further reservoir and deliverability tests once production begins.

Meanwhile, PetroGlobe plans to test uphole potential oil zones at the Young 1-32 well in southernmost Swisher County and evaluate the shale section for stimulation at the Cox 1-13 well in northwestern Floyd County. It is drilling below 5,400 ft toward 9,800 ft at the Ramsower 1-113 well in northeastern Hale County.

In November 2006, the Texas unit of Tyner Resources Ltd., Vancouver, BC, received TRC approval and began a 6-month production test of the shale at its Stephens-1 well in Motley County (see map, OGJ, Oct. 23, 2006. p. 51). The well previously tested at 250 Mcfd of 1,400-btu gas.

Equipment was on hand to recover 20 b/d of oil and 10-20 b/d of natural gas liquids to make the gas meet pipeline specifications. Tyner said it had recovered 700 bbl of oil and NGL by Jan. 8, and it continued to test the well and vent the gas.

Tyner, meanwhile, signed an agreement with Basa Resources Inc., Dallas, under which Basa will operate two underbalanced wells 3/8-mile north and 1 mile east of McIntosh 1-77.
