LONDON, Jan. 24 -- PA Resources, Stockholm, has found hydrocarbons in its second production well off Tunisia. The Didon-6 well—75 km west of the Tunisia-Libya border in 75 m of water—was drilled as a long-reach stepout well to acquire vertical data across a section of the reservoir.

"The data gathered in the pilot hole have confirmed the quality of the reservoir and a hydrocarbon column," PA Resources said. "This part of the well will now be abandoned before the horizontal production drain section of the well will be drilled according to plan."

The horizontal drain, to be placed along the top of the reservoir section, will be 700 m long. Under the second phase of the Didon development program, the Didon-6 well is expected to produce 10,000 b/d of oil. Didon field produced an average 4,400 b/d of oil during 2006.

PA Resources has full ownership of Didon.
