HOUSTON, Jan. 18 -- Grove Energy Ltd., Vancouver, BC, has appointed Glenn Whiddon executive chairman. In his new position, Whiddon will retain responsibility for the company's capital markets activities. Whiddon previously had served as the company chairman and chief executive since Sept. 18, 1996.

Separately, Wolfgang Zimmer was named successor to the chief executive. Zimmer joined Grove Energy Mar. 13, 2006, as a director and president. Commenting on Zimmer's appointment, Whiddon said, "The transfer of day-to-day management responsibility to Wolfgang Zimmer reflects the transition of Grove from an explorer to a producer, with two proven undeveloped assets which will benefit from Wolfgang's operational and management expertise."

In addition, Werter Paltrineri was appointed country manager, Italy. In this role, Paltrineri is responsible for Grove's activities in Italy, including advancing Abbadesse field development. Paltrineri has more than 30 years of Italian oil and gas exploration and management experience. He has coauthored numerous articles on structural geology and for the last 10 years has served as Italian exploration manager for British Gas PLC.
