Eni, Pertamina team up in exploration projects

LONDON, Jan. 17 -– Eni SPA and Indonesia's state-owned PT Pertamina (Persero), under a memorandum of understanding signed Jan. 17, have established joint work groups to identify new exploration and production opportunities in Indonesia and abroad.

Eni said, "The agreement also foresees sharing of technical know-how and the provision of training for Indonesian resources."

Eni has 10 exploration permits in Indonesia, five of which it operates. It is carrying out an extensive exploration and appraisal campaign to evaluate hydrocarbon potential in the Tarakan basin.

Eni's offshore blocks are in the deepwater Kutei basin and north of Sumatra Island. It also has equity production of 23,000 boe/d in the Mahakam River Delta, in East Kalimantan.
