PTTEP obtains stakes in two Egyptian blocks

Thailand's PTT Exploration & Production PLC (PTTEP) received a stake in two blocks through an Egyptian Natural Gas Holdings Co. bid round. PTTEP was part of a consortium in each bid.

BANGKOK, Dec. 8 -- Thailand's PTT Exploration & Production PLC (PTTEP) received a stake in two blocks through an Egyptian Natural Gas Holdings Co. bid round. PTTEP was part of a consortium in each bid.

Onshore Block 2, known as Rommana, covers 6,184 sq km in Sinai in the northeast of Egypt. Sipetrol International SA of Chile has 40% interest. PTTEP and UK-based Centrica Energy PLC each have 30%.

Offshore Block 8 covers 4,294 sq km in Sidi Adb El Rahman, northwest of Egypt. Edison International SPA plans to be the operator, holding 40% interest. PTTEP and Sipetrol each have 30% interest.

Final documents will be signed upon approval of the Egyptian government.
