HOUSTON, Dec. 19 -- Sonangol P&P has let a $70 million contract to Technip for flowlines associated with development of Gimboa oil field on Block 4 in 680 m of water about 85 km off Angola.

Sonangol's partners are Norsk Hydro SA, Angola Consulting Resources, and SOMOIL (Soc. Petrolefira Angolana).

The Gimboa project consists of three production and four water-injection subsea wells around a central manifold tied back to a floating production, storage, and offloading unit.

Peak production, according to Hydro, which is technical adviser to operator Sonangol with a 20% interest, will be 27,500 boe/d.

Technip will carry out the engineering, procurement, fabrication, testing, installation, and precommissioning of one production and one water-injection flexible flowline, one gas lift flexible pipe, one service umbilical, associated flexible risers system, and flexible well jumpers. The contract also includes the installation of other subsea equipment provided by Sonangol.

Offshore operations will be carried out by one of the group's dynamically positioned vessels during the first half of 2008.
