HOUSTON, Nov. 27 -- Corridor Resources Inc., Halifax, NS, spudded the F-58 deeper pool exploratory well on the northeast side of McCully gas field near Sussex, NB.

Projected to 3,600 m, the well is expected to encounter the Dawson Settlement sands at 3,100 m and the Hiram Brook sands at 2,300-2,600 m. Both are members of the Carboniferous Horton Group. Drilling time is 75 days.

The well's primary objective is to evaluate the gas potential of the Dawson Settlement sands at a structurally high position on the prospect.

F-58 is the first well in the McCully area designed to reach and explore the Dawson Settlement sands. The sands outcrop on the Caledonia Highlands several kilometers south of McCully field, where they are observed to be thick and coarse-grained.

The 3D seismic data across the field indicates the Dawson Settlement sands are trapped in the same structure as the Hiram Brook sands. The area of the structure at the Dawson Settlement level is about 20,000 acres, indicating that the Dawson Settlement sands could, if gas bearing, contain gas in place several times that of the Hiram Brook sands, Corridor said.
