Marathon taps Dresser-Rand for refinery expansion

Marathon Petroleum Co. LLC has selected Dresser-Rand Co. for the supply of compression equipment for the planned 180,000 b/cd capacity expansion at its 245,000 b/cd Garyville, La., refinery.

HOUSTON, Nov. 6 -- Marathon Petroleum Co. LLC has selected Dresser-Rand Co. for the supply of compression equipment for the planned 180,000 b/cd capacity expansion at its 245,000 b/cd Garyville, La., refinery (OGJ, Nov. 7, 2005, Newsletter).

The estimated total order value, including installation, commissioning, and start-up services, is expected to approach $68 million.

Dresser-Rand in October booked a $63.2 million order to supply critical compression equipment, including six DATUM turbo-compressor trains and eight reciprocating compressor units along with their drivers. Additional services are expected to be added.

Work is scheduled to begin in 2007.
