LONDON, Oct. 12 -- Victoria Oil & Gas PLC, London, has logged hydrocarbons thought to be gas or condensate from exploratory Well 103 on its West Medvezhye license in the Yamal region of Russia.

Open-hole logs of the well, which reached 3,900 m TD, indicated three intervals with hydrocarbon saturations of 50-75% in total net pay of 55 ft. The intervals are in or near the Upper Jurassic Bazhenov shale, source rock for the Nadym-Pur hydrocarbon province.

The logs showed hydrocarbon saturation of 50% and porosity of 11% in an interval at 3,730-37 m. At 3,794-99 m, hydrocarbon saturation was 75% and porosity, 15%. Hydrocarbon saturation also was 75% at 3,812-17 m and porosity, 17%.

Victoria will run casing to 3,880 m and start testing before yearend.

The company holds 100% of the license, which covers 1,224 sq km between Ob Bay and Medvezhye gas field.
