PARIS, Oct. 10 -- Le Havre Port Authority has selected Poweo, an electricity and gas supply company based in Paris, to build an LNG terminal at Antifer, near the Le Havre petroleum port.

The €500-600 million, 9 billion cu m/year terminal is due on stream in 2011. Its leading shareholder is Austria's power utility Verding. Poweo is associated with the Le Havre Maritime Industrial Committee, the operator of the petroleum port, and will be in charge of construction and operation of the terminal.

Poweo also is building a 412-Mw gas-powered combined cycle facility at Pont-de-Sambre, near Maubeuge, in northern France, due on stream in 2008. The location is near the Taisnière gas hub, where Russian gas enters France.
