HOUSTON, Oct. 24 -- Ithaca Energy Inc. has completed a test of the 14/18b-15 well on the Athena project in the Outer Moray Firth area of the UK continental shelf (OGJ Online, Oct. 12, 2006).

The well flowed 1,330 b/d of 25° gravity oil from the Lower Cretaceous Upper Leek formation through a 28/64-in. choke. No water was produced during the 18-hr test. The tested flow rate is believed to be commercial, Ithaca said.

The well is being suspended for future reentry as a production well. Initial analysis indicates that the well would produce about 5,000 b/d upon development. Production is projected for late 2008.

Based on the test results, Ithaca will proceed to seek approval for a field development plan covering the entire Athena accumulation. The company plans to appraise the Upper and Lower Leek sands' potential in future wells.
