AOPL names Neff to succeed Cooper as president

WASHINGTON, DC, Oct. 27 -- Shirley Neff, formerly an economist for the US Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, will join the Association of Oil Pipe Lines on Nov. 15 and succeed Benjamin S. Cooper as its executive director when he retires on Jan. 31, 2007.

Neff currently is president of the US Association for Energy Economics and an adjunct lecturer and research scholar at Columbia University's Center for Energy, Marine Transportation, and Public Policy. She also is a consultant to a number of international oil and gas companies.

She served two stints as the Energy and Natural Resources Committee's economist—1993-96 and 1999-2003. She also has worked for Shell Oil Co. in its Washington office and for the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America. Neff also has been an economic analyst for the Kansas Corporation Commission and for private firms.
