HOUSTON, Sept. 7 -- Total E&P Nederland BV (TEPNL) has begun development of K5F gas field on Block K5 in the Dutch North Sea about 110 km northwest of Den Helder.

Gas from the field will be produced via two subsea production installations. Its development also includes use of the world's first all-electrical christmas trees. This new technology will increase production system availability, improve operational functionality, and enhance environmental performance, TEPNL said.

TEPNL awarded Cooper Cameron the contract for the supply of the CameronDC all-electric subsea production systems for the K5F development.

The scope of supply includes all electric, subsea christmas trees and an all-electric control system, configured for expansion to four wells. Deployment is planned for mid-2007.

Field production, due to start in late 2007, will reach 2.6 million cu m/day of gas. The produced gas will be exported via a 8-in., 10-km subsea pipeline connected to the existing K6N satellite platform. The gas will be treated at the K6 gas treatment facility.

TEPNL is field operator. Its partners are Energie Beheer Nederland BV, Goal Petroleum (Netherlands) BV, Dyas BV, and Lundin Netherlands BV.
