HOUSTON, Sept. 1 -- A group led by Sipetrol International SA, Santiago, has completed Ferdaus-5, the third of three wells in Ferdaus field, and has made a new pool discovery with the wildcat Rayan-1X in Egypt's western desert.
Both wells are in the 738-sq-km North Bahariya concession, in which Sipetrol holds a 50% interest, along with IPR, an Irving, Tex., independent, 30%, and Industrija Nafte Zagreb (INA) of Croatia, 20%.
Drilled to 9,367 ft, Ferdaus-5 tested oil in two of the three identified pay zones in the Cretaceous Abu Roash G and Bahariya formations. The third zone will be tested later. The well was put on commingled production at a stable rate of 893 b/d of oil.
The Rayan-1X well was drilled to a TD of 8,381 ft in the Bahariya formation. The well was plugged back to test an Abu Roash G zone. The well has produced an average of 540 b/d of oil from 20 ft of perforations.
Meanwhile, in El Diyur-2X field, also in the western desert, Sipetrol, IPR, and Apache Corp. have brought another well on stream. El Diyur-12 was drilled to 8,850 ft TD and completed in the Abu Roash G. It began producing at the end of July at a rate of 320 b/d of oil.
The El Diyur partnership shooting seismic surveys to prepare for the next phase of exploration drilling, which is to coincide with drilling of the El-Diyur 13 and 18 wells.
