LOS ANGELES, Sept. 27 -- Indonesia has awarded its offshore Lampung II Block to Malaysia's Petronas. The 4,168 sq km parcel is 150 km east of Sumatra's southeastern coast.

Under terms of the production-sharing contract, Petronas unit PC Lampung II will acquire, process, and interpret 250 sq km of 3D seismic data, drill two exploration wells, and undertake geological and geophysical studies over the acreage.

The PSC was signed Sept. 22 in Jakarta, and brings Petronas's upstream interests in Indonesia to nine blocks.
